World's first fountain pen Waterman! In 1883, Lewis Edison Waterman, an insurance agent in New York, was forced to invent a fountain pen that could be called a revolution in writing instruments when he broke an important contract due to a flawed ink pen. The Portsmouth Treaty of 1905 and the Waterman fountain of pure gold in 1919 were used in the Treaty of Versailles, and Charles Lindbergh chose Waterman as his only personal possessions at the time of the first transatlantic flight.

2. When fountain pen is not in use for long time, keep converter or cartridge separated as ink on the tip of a fountain pen may dry out.
3. Keep the tip of a fountain pen in an upright position to avoid leaking.
4. Fountain pens leak on higher altitudes as the atmospheric pressure is less. Due to this the air within the tube of the fountain pen exerts pressure and forces the ink out. Therefore, keep converter or cartridge separated when you board a plane.
