TAYLORS

Brand details

Wakefield Winery, known as Australia's Rothschild, was selected as a Star Winery by renowned wine critic James Halliday. The Taylor family, which has been running for three generations, was a famous wine merchant in Sydney before establishing its current winery in Clay Valley, South Australia.

In 1969, Bill Taylor, along with his sons John and Bill, purchased a 178ha vineyard on the Wakefield River in Auburn and planted Cabernet Sauvignon. During the excavation of the farm's dam, a fossilized seahorse was discovered and have learned that this area is a limestone soil with high iron content, the foundation of an ancient remote sea. They have adopted three seahorses as their company logo.
