RYUKA is a whisky crafted from malt spirit distilled in-house at Shinzato Distillery in Okinawa. Made with premium British malt and further matured in Okinawa’s subtropical climate, it offers a distinctive expression shaped by its unique environment.
With an average annual temperature of 22°C and an average humidity of 77%, Okinawa provides ideal conditions for whisky maturation. The region’s exceptionally high angel’s share, reaching approximately 10% per year, concentrates the whisky’s character and enhances the richness and depth of its cask influence. The name RYUKA is inspired by Ryuka, the traditional poetic songs of Okinawa. Reflecting the timeless melodies of the sanshin, Okinawa’s iconic three-stringed instrument, the name embodies Shinzato Distillery’s philosophy of crafting whiskies whose enduring quality and character will be appreciated for generations to come.
