G-Shock (Gravitational Shock) is a brand of watches manufactured by Casio, which is designed to resist mechanical shocks and vibrations. They are primarily designed for sports, military and outdoor-oriented activities. G-SHOCK watches have a distinct style, and nearly all have some kind of stopwatch feature, countdown time, and light and water resistance.

Since 1983, G-Shock has been setting the standards in toughness. Shock-resistant construction stands up to dropping and other rough treatment plus 200m water resistance.

In 2018, 35 years have passed since the release of G-SHOCK's first model, the DW-5000C. GMW-B5000D, which realizes full metalization and is equipped with a connected engine based on the concepts of “external evolution,” “structural evolution,” and “module evolution,” has been released. Based on the Dw-5000, the origin of G-SHOCK, it has been made full of metal, and the band is made of strong stainless steel.
G-Shock's core technology, floating structure, or shock resist has been developed. By inserting a fine resin cushioning material between the metal bezel and the main case, we developed a new shock-resistant structure that can withstand shock even in a full metal case.
By improving the band connection where the most impact is transmitted and adding a support-type structure to the center of the case, the impact applied to the band connection pipe section is dispersed. In addition, a screw back was applied and DLC treatment with excellent wear resistance was applied on top.
Visibility was maximized by using carefully selected solar film for clear visibility and STN LCD liquid crystal that makes the time display easy to read even at tilted angles.
The face design pays homage to the original model, paying attention to detailed finishing from the dial to the main display layout, ‘similar but sophisticated’.
It was completed with a design similar to the DW-5000 model, the first G-Shock model.
It is equipped with the latest engine and maintains its size by using high-density technology. We are also pinning our expectations on the full-metal “GMW-B5000D,” which inherits the highly complete design and has evolved the exterior and modules.
In terms of functionality, in pursuit of accurate time display, Bluetooth® communication function and multi-band 6 corresponding to standard radio waves from 6 countries around the world are applied and by connecting with the dedicated application G-SHOCK Connected※1, you can obtain accurate time information from a time server on the Internet.
In addition, Casio's unique power-saving technology, Tough Solar, responds to any light and enables stable operation.
In addition, it has the best visibility with the newly installed high-brightness full-auto LED backlight and is also equipped with practicality such as world time. Additionally, localization is possible to display the day of the week in the languages of 6 countries*2. Accurate time is displayed all over the world, and the legitimacy of pursuing global basics has been inherited.
The concept inherited from the initial model has been maintained, and the exterior, structure, and module have evolved in pursuit of global quality, and a full-metal masterpiece has been created from the beginning. In 2018, celebrating its 35th anniversary, the GMW-B5000D, which evolved into a masterpiece of a brand that discovered new possibilities, was released.

By linking with a smartphone, time settings such as automatic time adjustment and world time are connected to the “Connected Engine” compatible with Bluetooth® connection, and the time reflecting the latest time and daylight saving time information is displayed around the world. By applying tough solar, solar operation with overload function has been applied.

    * When a watch is designed and manufactured to withstand up to 5 bar, such as accidental contact with splashes of water or rain, but it is not designed for wearing while swimming or diving. The absolute water resistance of a watch may not be permanently guaranteed. It may be affected by ageing of the gaskets, accidental impact on the crown or crystal and other external factors. Be sure to use the watch with the crown pressed in normal position. If your watch has a screw-type crown, be sure to tighten the crown completely to prevent moisture, water or dust penetrating in to the case.
